Sons of Anarchy star Alan O’Neill has died at the age of 47, it has been confirmed.
The star played former IRA man Hugh in the sixth and seventh season of the hit show, alongside a cast led by Charlie Hunnam.
A cause of death is yet to be revealed, but police have confirmed that there are not any suspicious circumstances surrounding O’Neill’s passing.
Although perhaps best known for his role in the popular motorcycle drama, O’Neill also starred in Irish soap Fair City and a string of US films.
Posting on Twitter, co-star Timothy Murphy wrote: “My good friend Alan O’Neill died today…We worked together on The Sons of Anarchy…my condolences to his family.”

Sons of Anarchy debuted in 2008, before eventually concluding in 2014 after 92 episodes.
