'MASSEDUCTION' hit the desert in a BIG way
St Vincent triumphed at Coachella 2018 last night (April 13), making an electrifying return to the stage with her full live band. Check out footage below.
After dividing fans with her solo ‘MASSEDUCTION’ tour earlier this year, Annie Clark revealed that the next leg would see her perform with live musicians. This summer, she’ll headline various festivals including All Points East Presents and End Of The Road – completing a victory lap for her acclaimed latest record.
Ahead of her Coachella performance on Day 1 of the festival, Clark discussed “the world premiere of an entirely new show” with an “entirely different creative concept with a full band”.
Speaking backstage on Coachella’s official live stream, Clark described her latest incarnation.
“This is just like a blistering, disturbing rock show,” she said. “You’ve gotta go 180.” The musician compared her previous outing to a theatre piece, which “slowly revealed itself”.
Asked about the preparation for the new tour, Clark replied: “It’s funny, it takes a lot of work for something to seem like magic. So yeah, I’ve been in the studio a lot and in rehearsals a lot, but I’m so excited.”
St Vincent also looked back at playing Coachella for the very first time a decade ago. “There’s a very visible trajectory of the font [on the line-up poster] getting slightly bigger every time I’ve played,” she said. “Now I’m maybe at an 18 point font instead of a 6 – I feel good about it.”
