Oscar Isaac was slapped 24 times by Carrie Fisher while filming one ‘Last Jedi’ scene

A clip of the moment in question has been circulated ahead of the forthcoming Blu-ray release of the film

Oscar Isaac was slapped in the face 24 times by the late Carrie Fisher during filming of Star Wars: The Last Jedi after it took a number of takes to nail one particular scene.

Footage from the filming of the scene in question will be included in the forthcoming Blu-ray release of The Last Jedi, which is set for release on March 27.

A preview clip of that behind-the-scenes moment has been circulated ahead of the release of the Blu-ray, with the scene coming as General Leia (Fisher) berates Poe Dameron (Isaac) after he helps destroy the Imperial Dreadnaught.

Speaking about that moment, Fisher elaborated on the connection between her character and Isaac’s.

“Poe is her protégé and in a way, I think she thinks of him as Han. He’s very dominating and he doesn’t listen to her, so we have some moments together,” she said. “There’s more feistiness this time. That I really like. Now, there’s Leia again.”

“That was one of the first things we shot and I think we did 24 takes,” Isaac recalls in the clip. “That was very surreal, to be slapped by Princess Leia repeatedly.”
