‘Stranger Things’ star Charlie Heaton discusses cocaine charges

“It was hard - everything happened so fast"

Stranger Things actor Charlie Heaton has finally opened up on his recent drug charges, admitting that the experience was “fucking awful”.

Heaton was detained at Los Angeles’ LAX airport, after trace amounts of cocaine were found on his luggage. He subsequently missed the premiere for the show’s second season, saying in a statement: “I’m sorry to all the fans and my Stranger Things family for missing the premiere. We are all so proud of this season and I would never want this story to negatively impact the show.”

Now, in an interview for Flaunt Magazine, he’s admitted that the incident deeply affected both himself and his family.  “It was hard,” he says. “Everything happened so fast, and I hadn’t come to terms with the fact that I was famous.” The incident allegedly made him “feel kind of vulnerable”.

“All of a sudden it becomes a very big story,” he says, “and it gets really blown out of proportion.” Reporters even went to his family’s house in Yorkshire, which was “upsetting” for them, he admits.

Heaton is scheduled to appear in the upcoming third season of Stranger Things.

Last week, Calpurnia, the band fronted by Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard, shared their debut single.

‘City Boy’ was recorded with Twin Peaks singer Cadien Lake and is out now via Transgressive and Canadian label Royal Mountain Records (who have previously released music from Alvvays, Mac DeMarco, METZ and more).

The band say of the track in an Instagram post: “We’re super proud of it! Listen to it once, twice, or as many times as you want!”
