Taron Egerton has revealed that he won’t be appearing in the next Kingsman movie.
In an interview with Yahoo News, Egerton revealed that director Matthew Vaughn is working on the next movie but that he wouldn’t appearing in the next instalment of the franchise.
“We’re very much still in business together, it’s just that his next journey in that universe doesn’t involve me. Which I think is sacrilegious!”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PggfbzJcvA
The actor, who has starred in both Kingsman movies previously, also added: “I think his idea for the new one is incredibly exciting, and I’m sad that I won’t be on that journey with him, but it’s not the last you’ll see of Eggsy.”
Recently, a trailer was released of Egerton in the new Elton John biopic, Rocketman. Set for release next summer, the biopic follows the music icon’s journey as he prepares to release ‘Honky Chateau’, his 1972 breakthrough album.
But as the first trailer shows, it also promises to be a life-spanning examination of Elton’s career – with brief snippets shown of his childhood and battles with personal demons. “There are moments in a rockstar’s life that define who he is”, a voiceover teases.
As the one-minute teaser comes to a close, Egerton is seen performing live as Elton for the first time, delivering a rendition of the iconic titular track.
The film, directed by Bohemian Rhapsody’s Dexter Fletcher, will also see Jamie Bell star as Elton’s songwriting partner Bernie Taupin and Bryce Dallas Howard as his mother. In September, the first official photo from the production was revealed, showing Egerton in some of the singer’s trademark get-up.
Reviewing Kingsman: The Golden Circle, NME wrote: “For a larky spy movie, there’s far too much static exposition. Action is scant, with wobbly CG and without the energy of the first’s church massacre or anything as imaginative as the blade-legged henchwoman, Gazelle. If there’s a saving grace it’s Elton John, as a furious hostage livid at being subjected to these people’s nonsense. After 140 minutes you get how he feels.”
Kingsman 3 is set to begin filming next year with a November 2019 release date expected.
