The eye-watering cost of Tessa Thompson’s ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ wig

The wig worn by Tessa Thompson in Thor: Ragnarok cost $10,000.

According to the Huffington Post, Thompson needed to wear the expensive wig because she was doing doing reshoots for the film while simultaneously starring in Sorry To Bother You, the latter requiring her to sport short, neon orange curls.

Thor:Raganok, in which Thompson’s character Valkyrie has long, flowing dark hair, was scheduled for reshoots in the summer of 2017 – the same time period for which she was contracted for Sorry To Bother You.

As the Huffington Post also reports, Disney – the Marvel parent company – wasn’t apparently too happy about the situation despite Thor:Raganok’s reported $180 million budget.

Boots Riley, the writer-director of Sorry To Bother You said that he apologised to Thor:Raganok director Taika Waititi about the situation, who insisted he was fine with it.

“He was like, ‘It’s not my money!’” Riley said.

Thor: Ragnarok is out now on DVD and Blu-ray.
