The Muppets on their O2 shows, Kermit & Piggy’s relationship and their favourite grime artist

It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights… The Muppets are heading to London.

Today, the veteran puppet troupe announced they’re to appear in the first ever live Muppets extravaganza to take part outside of the states, when Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo and the gang take to the stage at The O2 for two evening performances and a matinee on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 July this year.

The Muppets Take The O2 is a homecoming of sorts: Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, from whence the puppets came, was based in London until 2005, and the original The Muppet Show was filmed at Elstree Studios.

To mark the occasion, NME caught up with Kermit and Miss Piggy – now, sadly, no longer a romantic item – to find out more about the shows, which grime artist they’re hoping will appear and whether it’s got any easier being green.

Tickets for the shows go on sale on February 28.
