‘The Wire”s Idris Elba joins ‘Prometheus’ cast

Ridley Scott also recruits Kate Dickie and Sean Harris

Idris Elba, Kate Dickie and Sean Harris have all joined the cast of Ridley Scott‘s new sci-fi film Prometheus.

Prometheus has roots in Scott‘s planned Alien prequel, which the director decided to scrap and concentrate on an original science fiction story instead.

Elba is best known for his portrayal of Stringer Bell in hit HBO TV series The Wire. He’s also appeared in TV series Luther and the films The Losers, RocknRolla and 28 Days Later. He’s due to appear in Thor later this year.

Kate Dickie recently appeared in Andrea Arnold‘s Red Road, while Sean Harris has been seen in Brighton Rock, Harry Brown and UK TV’s Red Riding.

The Daily Mail reported news of the new recruits. They join the already cast Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron.

Prometheus is set to hit cinemas in March next year.
