Miller – who plays Weasel in the superhero franchise – has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman and punching her during sex, allegations that he has denied.
Speaking to Rotten Tomatoes recently, producer Lauren Shuler Donner said she did not expect that Miller would be replaced in the upcoming sequel film, which hits cinemas in June.
“We’re in the final editing,” she said. “I don’t think so.”
Asked about Miller’s future in the Deadpool franchise beyond the upcoming instalment, Shuler Donner said said: “That’s a whole studio thing. I don’t know.”
Miller is also known for his role as Erlich Bachman in the HBO sitcom Silicon Valley. It was announced earlier this year that Miller would not be returning for the show’s fifth season.
Following the sexual assault allegations facing Miller, it was announced that his Comedy Central series The Gorburger Show had been cancelled by the network.
The accusations facing the star relate to two separate incidents alleged to have taken place while Miller attended George Washington University in Washington DC during the early 2000s.
In a joint statement from Miller and his wife Kate, the couple deny the allegations and claim that the accuser “attempted to break us up” in college. “Sadly she is now using the current climate to bandwagon and launch these false accusations again,” they add.
