’30 Rock’ star Tracy Morgan ‘responsive’ but remains in intensive care following car crash

Comedian was involved in accident that killed fellow comic Jimmy Mack this weekend

Comedian and actor Tracy Morgan has shown signs of improvement after spending the weekend in intensive care following a car crash that killed another man.

Morgan was admitted to the ICU following a six car pile-up on Saturday (June 7) involving a limousine bus he was riding in in New Jersey. Fellow comedian James McNair – stage name Jimmy Mack – was killed in the crash while four more are in hospital and three remain critical, via BBC News reports. It in understood that the other passengers injured were comedians Ardie Fuqua and Harris Stanton plus a man named Jeffrey Millea.

Kevin Roper, a lorry driver from Georgia, is facing criminal charges over the crash. He has been charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto, after his lorry allegedly crashed into the vehicle in which Morgan and friends were riding from a stand-up show they had performed in Delaware on Friday night.

“He has been more responsive, which is an incredibly encouraging sign,” Morgan’s publicist Lewis Kay told via CNN on Sunday, confirming that his client had sustained several injuries, including broken ribs, a broken nose, a broken leg and a broken femur. “We expect him to remain in the hospital for several weeks,” he said

Best known for his role as Tracy Jordan in Tina Fey’s sit-com 30 Rock, Morgan is a former Saturday Night Live star and has also appeared in films including Cop Out and The Other Guys.
