6 Music’s Craig Charles leaves ‘I’m A Celebrity’ following family bereavement

Charles was informed of the death of his brother by the show's producers earlier this morning

Craig Charles has withdrawn from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! after being informed that his brother has died from a heart attack.

The BBC Radio 6 Music presenter and Coronation Street actor left the show’s camp in the Australian jungle earlier this morning (November 20) shortly after hearing the sad news about his brother, Dean.

An ITV spokesman confirmed: “Craig decided to leave the camp earlier today and will be heading back to his family in the UK. We send our sincere condolences to Craig and his family.”

The actor/presenter has presented The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show on BBC Radio 6 Music since 2002, and also regularly sits in for Janice Long, Steve Wright and Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2.

Charles is the second contestant to leave the latest series of the ITV reality show, following The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma Collins. Those remaining in the jungle include rapper Tinchy Stryder, newsreader Michael Buerk and former Premier League footballer Jimmy Bullard.
