The supervillain will appear in the fifth and final season of the TV show
The first look at Bane’s costume in Gotham has been revealed by the show’s producers.
The supervillain will appear in the fifth and final season of the DC Comics TV show, which is due to premiere next year.
Bane will be played by Shane West (Salem, ER) and will be initially introduced as a former army friend of Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), named Eduardo Dorrance. He will then gradually turn into the villain.
His costume sees a mask fixed over his face, leaving only his red-rimmed eyes and forehead visible. Emerging from his black armour on his chest are a series of tubes and cables. See the costume and some reactions to it in the Twitter Moment below.
Showrunner John Stephens has previously described Gotham‘s Bane as “very, very strong, and very angry.”
Producers have also said the last season of Gotham will “wrap up this unique origin story of the great DC Comics super-villains and vigilantes, which revealed an entirely new chapter that has never been told.”
Elsewhere in the DC Extended Universe, bosses expressed their regret at publishing a new Batman comic that showed the Caped Crusader’s penis.
The comic was part of a new series called DC Black Label, which is aimed at a mature audience. Batman: Damned was one of the first stories published under the banner, in which readers were given a glimpse of Bruce Wayne’s genitals.
Speaking at New York Comic Con, co-publisher Jin Lee said: “I think we made some choices after it went out and there were some production errors that led to the book being published the way it was… that ended up being a big story.”
