Benedict Cumberbatch, Danny Dyer nominated for National Television Awards

'Game of Thrones', 'Sherlock' and 'The Walking Dead' also pick up nominations

Benedict Cumberbatch and Danny Dyer are among the nominees for this year’s National Television Awards.

Cumberbatch will compete for the Drama Performance prize for his portrayal of Sherlock‘s title character, while Dyer is nominated in the Serial Drama Performance category for his depiction of Mick Carter in EastEnders.

The full list of nominations was announced earlier today (January 12) and also includes nods for Ant and Dec, who are bidding to win the Entertainment Presenter trophy for the 14th consecutive year, as well as X Factor colleagues Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, who are both nominated for the TV Judge prize.

Sherlock will compete against Doctor Who, Downton Abbey and Cilla for the Drama award, while Game of Thrones will go up against The Walking Dead, Celebrity Juice and Geordie Shore for the Multichannel gong.

The winners, which are voted for by members of the public, will be announced at a ceremony broadcast live on ITV on January 21. Check out the full list of nominations below.
