Boy George says he won’t be joining will.i.am on ITV’s ‘The Voice’

Culture Club star was a coach on the final BBC1 series earlier this year (2016)

Boy George has confirmed that he will not be appearing on the next series of The Voice.

After will.i.am announced yesterday (July 4) that he had signed up for the new series, which will be the first broadcast on ITV, a fan asked the Culture Club star if he would be returning too.

“Not doing this season of The Voice on ITV but sending @iamwill my love. Watch this space for what I am up to! :),” he replied. Boy George had joined the show as a coach earlier this year for its final season on BBC1.

Although will.i.am’s fellow coaches have yet to be confirmed, ITV has announced that Emma Willis will serve as host on both the new series of The Voice and its forthcoming spin-off series The Voice Kids. Will.i.am will appear on both shows too.

“Hosting The Voice Kids will be like being at my house on a Saturday night; lots of kids singing, with me trying to keep some kind of order,” Willis said in a statement yesterday. “Thankfully, the musical genius that is will.i.am is there to bring some expertise to the table. It’s going to be pretty awesome.”

The Voice originally ran on BBC1 for five series beginning in 2012. Coaches on the BBC1 incarnation also included Sir Tom Jones, Ricky Wilson, Kylie Minogue, Paloma Faith and Rita Ora.
