‘Breaking Bad’ bows out with best ever viewing figures

A massive 10.3 million US viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Heisenberg

Breaking Bad‘s final episode ‘Felina’ attracted the show’s biggest ever audience, US cable network AMC has confirmed.

A massive 10.3 million viewers tuned into AMC to watch the conclusion of the acclaimed drugs drama starring Bryan Cranston on Sunday night (September 29). Just seven days earlier, penultimate episode ‘Granite State’ had attracted the show’s previous best ever audience of 6.6 million.

To put these bumper ratings into perspective, before the show returned for the second half of its final season this August it had never managed to crack the three million mark. UK viewers have been able to watch the final run on Netflix, where each episode began streaming shortly after finishing in the US.

Meanwhile, following its use in the finale of Breaking Bad on Sunday, global streams of ‘Baby Blue’ by Badfinger have increased by 9000%. The track is taken from the British classic rock band’s 1971 album ‘Straight Up’.

Although Breaking Bad is now over, the spin-off series that its creator Vince Gilligan and producer Peter Gould have been planning is now officially in the works. The spin-off will centre on Saul Goodman, the dodgy lawyer played by Bob Odenkirk who is known for his catchphrase “Better call Saul!”
