FOX announces it will 'quit' BT just days before new series airs
BT have confirmed that they will be losing FOX and FOX HD from their roster of digital television channels, including popular horror drama The Walking Dead, it was reported today (February 10)
An email was sent to inform customers of the changes, effective from March 1 2016, according to Trusted Reviews, in which BT appeared to lay blame at the feet of FOX.
“From 1 March 2016, you’ll no longer be able to watch FOX and FOX HD on BT TV,” BT said in their email newsletter to customers. “That’s because Fox have changed the way they offer their TV channels to TV providers.”
“We’re sorry about this but we’ll keep bringing you great TV – including loads of top channels like Comedy Central, GOLD and Universal – as well as a number of ways to watch the latest and greatest US dramas” the email continued.
The Walking Dead is a hugely popular show and it’s cancellation could spell a decline in subscribers. Along with The Walking Dead, FOX and FOX HD also offers NCIS, American Horror Story, American Dad!, Family Guy and Wayward Pines as part of it’s partnership with the digital television provider.
“We are sorry that our contract ends before the new series of The Walking Dead has finished” BT told TrustedReviews. “However, customers can continue to enjoy the remainder of the season via BT Store, where each episode of The Walking Dead will be available 24 hours after going out on FOX in the UK. We have special offers available on this for our BT TV customers.”
The TV service provider told us that if customers want to leave their TV contract however, they’ll need to let BT know within 30 days of receiving their notification “to avoid paying penalty charges”. Season 6 of the zombie series returns after a short break, slated to air FOX UK at 9pm on Monday, February 15.
Meanwhile, in December 2015, star Norman Reedus was reportedly bitten by a fan at a zombie convention.
The 46-year-old actor was attending a Walker Stalker Con event in New Jersey when a female fan bypassed security and attempted to bite his chest, TMZ reports.
Reedus was not injured by the bite, which apparently failed to break his skin, but the woman is said to have been banned from all future Walker Stalker Con events.
The actor chose not to press charges against the snappy fan but referenced the bizarre incident on Instagram yesterday, posting a picture of himself with the words “DO NOT BITE ME” written on his top.
Reedus has starred as Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead since the hit zombie drama began in 2010. Season six premiered on AMC in October and is now eight episodes into its 16-episode run.
The Walking Dead – Season 6 resumes on February 15 on FOX UK at 9pm.
