Both Sabrina and Riverdale are based on comics in the Archie Comics series, with the programmes’ respective locations of Greendale and Riverdale situated in the same geographical area.
In episode seven of the new, Kiernan Shipka-starring Netflix series, fans were surprised to see Riverdale‘s Ben Button delivering pizza to Ms. Wardell. In the latter show, the character was last seen falling out of a hospital window and was presumed to have died.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa attempted to clear up the mystery. Asked if the cameo was before or after his death in Riverdale, Aguirre-Sacasa replied: “That’s a good question, and that depends. It suggests a very deep, deep mythology where time and space bends.
“I love that kid. I’m sad that he keeps turning up and horrible things keep happening to him.”
Discussing whether Ben could have survived his fall, the showrunner said: “It seemed like it was pretty final, but yet there he is in Greendale. But in Greendale, everyone pops up — the dead don’t stay dead long in Greendale.”
Initial reviews of Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, which premiered on Netflix on Friday (October 26), were positive, with critics praising its darker take on the young half-witch’s story, and the way it handled “notions of freedom, power, and womanhood within this darkly rendered world of magic and intrigue.”
NME‘s Hannah Mylrea described the series as one that will “totally bewitch you” and “a wickedly enticing watch.”
“As he did with Riverdale, Aguirre-Sacasa has created a magnetising visual world,” she added. “It’s impossibly stylish, with every small detail thought through and each shot carefully selected. But although it looks stunning, it’s the acting that’ll shine through.”
