The 'Late Show' host lampooned yesterday's surprise show of alliance at Trump Tower
Stephen Colbert has mocked Kanye West‘s surprise meeting with Donald Trump at the latter’s New York headquarters.
West and the President-elect met at Trump Tower yesterday (December 13) in private, before then emerging on the foyer of the building to pose for photographers. Although West didn’t make a comment about why the pair had met – Trump did say that he and the rapper had been friends “for life” – he subsequently tweeted about the encounter, explaining that he felt “it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change.”
West’s meeting with Trump has attracted a backlash from fans and many music commentators, and The Late Show host Stephen Colbert joined the negative reaction to the footage of the pair embracing by mocking their encounter during the monologue of last night’s show.
Colbert joked that “the two most powerful American narcissists [were] in the same room” during yesterday’s 15-minute meeting, before saying: “I heard these two are going to drop an album together—it’s called ‘The Deportation of Pablo’”.

As mentioned, many of West’s fans were bemused (to put it lightly) by yesterday’s headline-grabbing meeting – see some of the best fan reactions here.
