Record producer and reality TV star passed away in April
Reports claim that David Gest died of a stroke after being found dead earlier this year.
The music producer turned reality TV star was found in the Four Seasons hotel in Canary Wharf, London on April 12. He was 62.
After police said that there were no suspicious circumstances involved in Gest’s death, The Sun now reports that the star died from “natural causes”.
Gest’s US attorney Edward Bearman told the paper: “I’ve been told David died from a stroke”, while Gary Veazey, executor of Gest’s will, added: “He died of a stroke.”
The Poplar coroner’s office has also said that no inquest will take place because Gest “died naturally”.
A source close to Gest reportedly told The Sun: “Knowing that David’s death was from a stroke has provided relief to the whole Gest family. It doesn’t help to bring David back but it gives us piece of mind that nothing untoward happened. We are still very much grieving him but this news helps with the process.”
Gest was married to Liza Minnelli from 2002-2003. They officially divorced in 2007. He was also known for being a close friend of the late Michael Jackson. Gest produced the Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration TV tribute in 2001 and was nominated for a primetime Emmy.
In the past decade Gest appeared on both I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here and Celebrity Big Brother. He appeared in the latter in January. When the news of David Bowie’s death was broken to the housemates, some misunderstood and thought Gest had passed away.
