Elle Macpherson says she regrets appearing in ‘Friends’

Supermodel appeared in five episodes of the sitcom

Former supermodel Elle Macpherson has revealed she regrets appearing in Friends, admitting she didn’t realise how much of an impact her cameo in the sitcom would have on her life.

Macpherson played Janine Lacroix, the dancer room-mate of Matt LeBlanc‘s character Joey Tribbiani, for five episodes of Friends in season six of the show in 1999.

Macpherson told Australian magazine TV Week: “If I’d known how important it was in the US, or how long it would be shown on TV, I may not have chosen to do it. It was a lot of pressure, if you look at in the way that it’ll be around for 20 or 30 years.”

Friends bosses wanted Lacroix to appear in more episodes, but Macpherson was unable to do more filming as she was living in London at the time. She said that the show was the main thing that her 13-year-old son Cy’s friends know her for, commenting: “Cy’s friends are always like ‘Oh, you know Cy’s mum, she’s on Friends.’ They haven’t figured out it was nearly 20 years ago. They think I’m still on Friends.”

In the show, Lacroix and Tribbiani end up dating, splitting up when Lacroix admits she doesn’t like Monica or Chandler.

Macpherson said she had some good memories of the show, saying: “Matt was a great working partner and a good kisser.”

Having hosted Britain And Ireland’s Next Top Model until 2013, Macpherson is now a producer on US TV show Fashion Star and has her own skin care and lingerie ranges.
