‘Empire’ actress Taraji P. Henson thought Coldplay were Maroon 5 at Super Bowl

Actress shares a picture of the Super Bowl stage with the caption '#maroon5 is life to me'

Empire‘s Taraji P. Henson appeared to confuse Coldplay with Maroon 5 during yesterday’s Super Bowl halftime show.

The Golden Globe-winning actress shared a picture of the halftime show stage with the caption: “YAAAAAAASSSSSS!!! #maroon5 is life to me!!! #superbowl50 #HappyCamper I am.”

Henson has since deleted the post, but Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine shared a screen grab of Henson’s error on Instagram.

Henson – who plays hip-hop matriarch Cookie Lyon in Empire, winning a Golden Globe for her performance last month (January) – later laughed off her mistake on Twitter.

Coldplay played last night’s Super Bowl halftime show with special guests that included Beyonce and Bruno Mars. Scroll below to watch the performance in full.

The band opened their performance with a medley of the songs ‘Yellow’, ‘Viva La Vida’, ‘Paradise’ and ‘Adventure Of A Lifetime’, before Mars ran through his Mark Ronson-aided hit ‘Uptown Funk’, soon segueing into Beyoncé’s new single ‘Formation’.

Coldplay finished the show with a performance of ‘Fix You’ while a backdrop showed footage of Super Bowl halftime shows from the past. They were joined by Beyoncé, Ronson and Mars for a supergroup send-off.
