All 15 episodes of season four will be available from today
Following its cancellation in 2006, an entire new season of cult US comedy Arrested Development will be available to screen on Netflix today.
The TV show, which previously aired for three seasons on Fox before being dropped, has been picked up by the online streaming service after it gained unexpected online success despite initially garnering poor viewing figures.
Though Arrested Development has picked up a host of awards (including six Emmys and a Golden Globe) and won widespread critical acclaim, the series – which follows the life of the unconventional Bluth family and stars Jason Bateman, David Cross and Juno star Michael Cera – gained surprisingly poor ratings. However, during a panel at The New Yorker Festival in 2011, series creator Michael Hurwitz declared his intention of producing a shortened new series ahead of a possible movie adaptation.
Guest stars in the new season are set to include Bridesmaids star Kristen Wiig, Ben Stiller, Seth Rogen and Liza Minelli, whilst the original cast will all reprise their roles.
The return of the comedy has been met with almost universally positive reactions, with messages of support coming from all corners of the internet. Radar favourites Chvrches and Dinosaur Pile-Up both took to Twitter this morning to express their enthusiasm for today’s event, whilst US musician Har Mar Superstar – who recently released fifth album ‘Bye Bye 17’ – urged people to watch the show today.
