Ewan McGregor to star as twin brothers in season 3 of ‘Fargo’

The actor will instead take up the dual role of twin brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy

Ewan McGregor has been signed up for a leading role in season 3 of crime drama Fargo.

But far from playing one lead character, the actor will instead take up the dual role of twin brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy, who are believed to be at odds with each other – and will form the centre of the plot for the FX show’s upcoming season.

An official description of the characters from FX claims: “Emmit Stussy is the Parking Lot King of Minnesota. A handsome, self-made, real estate mogul and family man, Emmit sees himself as an American success story. His slightly younger brother, Ray Stussy, on the other hand is more of a cautionary tale.

“Balding, pot-bellied, Ray is the kind of guy who peaked in high school. Now a parole officer, Ray has a huge chip on his shoulder about the hand he’s been dealt, and he blames his brother, Emmit, for his misfortunes.”

Little else is known about the show’s upcoming season, but show runner Noah Hawley previously claimed that it would be set in 2010, only a few years after the events of season 1, and will shoot later this year, before airing in 2017.

Ewan McGregor is currently filming the sequel to cult film Transpotting and is set to make his directorial debut with an adaptation of 1997 novel American Pastoral
