Fans are review-bombing ‘The Boys’ season two because of its weekly release schedule

"This is 2020…. We don’t want staggered releases of episodes!!"

Fans of The Boys have been review-bombing the show’s second season on Amazon Prime Video due to a staggered release schedule, rather than dropping all at once.

Despite the show boasting a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, The Boys is currently scored 2.7 out of five stars on Amazon due to fans being unhappy about the staggered release tactic.

“This is 2020…. We don’t want staggered releases of episodes!!” one reviewer wrote. “What a shame, I was looking forward in watching it… now I’ll just skip it and wait for it to be cancelled, then I can watch them all without any interruptions.”

Another shared the same sentiment, writing in a comment: “Not sure what moron decided this would be a good idea but it is the worst idea ever.

“For now I wait until the end of season and BINGE the way I prefer. If this trend continues into other shows i.e. Sneaky Pete I will cancel my prime subscription. And move on to Disney/Hulu and will just download my amazon series from other places.”

Season 1 of The Boys was released in one go on the platform, while the second batch of episodes is being released weekly, with the first one having premiered last Friday (September 4).

In a four-star review of season 2 of The Boys, NME said the show “grips most when its female characters are put front and centre”, adding that “The Boys may be the most adult superhero show on TV – but with its hotly-awaited return, it proves it’s the most fun too.”
