‘Fargo’ season three lead actress announced

Crime drama set to return in 2017

Carrie Coon has been announced for the next season of of crime drama Fargo.

Ewan McGregor has already been signed up for a leading role in the FX show, with The Leftovers star Coon now confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the report, Coon will portray Gloria Burgle, a “practical woman who grabs the fire extinguisher when the bacon catches fire and everyone else panics”.

The character is also described as “chief of police in Edna Valley and a newly divorced mother” who “struggles to understand this new world around her where people connect more intimately with their phones than the people directly in front of them”.

Meanwhile, McGregor will take up the dual role of twin brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy, who are believed to be at odds with each other.

Little else is known about the show’s upcoming season, but show runner Noah Hawley previously claimed that it would be set in 2010, only a few years after the events of season 1, and will shoot later this year, before airing in 2017.
