The first UK version of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ has been confirmed

Sashay, away!

RuPaul’s Drag Race will arrive on British television next year for the first ever UK version of the hit US show.

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is set to air on BBC Three, with British drag queens forming the centre of the show. The hugely popular talent contest is already one of America’s highest rated TV shows and consistently attracts star-studded guest judge spots from the likes of Khloe Kardashian and Lady Gaga.

RuPaul Charles told The Sun: “I am beyond excited to celebrate the massive charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent of the Queen’s queens. And before anyone asks, yes, we would be thrilled to have Meghan Markle join us, as we are already preparing a ‘Royal-Mother-To-Be’ runway challenge.”

Posting on Twitter, BBC Three wrote: “Start your engines, @RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is coming soon to BBC Three.”

Earlier this year, RuPaul became the first  drag queen to be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The drag icon had his career and cultural impact recognised at an unveiling presented by Jane Fonda in March.

The star said he was “overcome with so much emotion” at the event, adding: “This is absolutely the most important moment in my professional career.”
