‘Fleabag’, ‘Chernobyl’ and ‘The Crown’ lead 2020 BAFTA TV nominations

A virtual ceremony hosted by Richard Ayoade will be held next month

The nominations for this year’s BAFTA TV Awards have been revealed, with Chernobyl leading the way – see the full list below.

The 2020 awards, which have been significantly affected by the coronavirus crisis, will hold a virtual ceremony on July 31, hosted by Richard Ayoade.

Chernobyl, Sky Atlantic’s miniseries on the 1986 nuclear disaster, leads the way in the 2020 BAFTA nominations, picking up 14 nominations, while Netflix‘s royal hit The Crown picked up seven, including Best Drama Series.

The Crown is joined by The End of the Fucking World, Giri/Haji and Gentleman Jack on the nominations list for the main award, with Killing Eve missing out after winning the award last year.

In the actors awards, Stephen Graham is up for Best Lead Actor for The Virtues, alongside Chernobyl star Jared Harris, Samantha Morton (I Am Kirsty) and more.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag is up for six awards, including Female Performance In A Comedy Programme, which both Waller-Bridge and Sian Clifford are nominated, and Scripted Comedy. The show is also up for the Must-See Moment award, for the iconic confessional scene.

Elsewhere in the latter award, nods go to Arya killing the Night King in Game Of Thrones‘ final season and Nessa proposing to Smithy in the 2019 Gavin and Stacey Christmas reunion special.
