Fans spotted some familiar character names and descriptions
The writer released his latest book Fire And Blood – a complete history of the Targaryens – last week (November 20), and some fans have noticed some familiar character names and descriptions within it.
Readers have spotted references to a Kermit Tully, who is the Lord of Riverrun. Another passage refers to an Oscar Tully, who is described as “greener, and cursed with the sort of prickly pride so common in second sons”, which fans have connected to Sesame Street’s Oscar The Grouch.
Fire And Blood isn’t the first instance of Martin’s work to include references to The Muppets. The author has previously revealed historical characters called Lord Paramount Grover Tully and his son Elmo Tully.
Martin is currently working on five different GoT prequels with network HBO and revealed earlier this month that he is also developing “a couple of other shows” for the channel. The writer refused to give any details on what those shows would consist of but described having so many projects on the go as “fun”, even if there were “days when I feel a little dizzy.”
Game Of Thrones will conclude with its eighth season, which is due to air next April. The final series will consist of just six episodes, although it was recently revealed each would be over 60 minutes and “feature-length.”
