‘Game Of Thrones’ season six premiere earns Sky Atlantic record ratings

2.19 million viewers watched the show on Sky Atlantic overall

The season six premiere of Game of Thrones saw a record number of viewers tune in to Sky Atlantic, new figures show.

Sky’s pay-to-view channel broadcast the show’s first episode of its new season at 2am on Monday morning, the same time as the episode premiered on HBO in North America. It was then repeated at 9pm on Monday.

Overnights.tv reports that the season opener attracted nearly 1.38 million viewers for the 2am broadcast and an additional 816,000 viewers for the later 9pm slot. 2.19 million viewers watched the show on Sky Atlantic overall.


In comparison, last year saw 1.57 million viewers tune into to Sky Atlantic for the first episode of season five at a Monday, 9pm slot. It was not simulcast with HBO that year.

Meanwhile, the trailer for the second episode of Game Of Thrones season six is available to view ahead of its broadcast (Sunday, May 1).
