Dunham’s hit HBO show returns early next year

A teaser trailer has been released online for season 4 of Lena Dunham’s hit TV show Girls.

Dunham (who also writes and directs the show) confirmed last week that filming has wrapped with the HBO series due to hit our screens early next year.

As reported, the next series will see Dunham’s character Hannah Horvath take a class at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop with new additions played by Desiree Akhavan and Peter Mark Kendall.

Akhavan premiered her debut film Appropriate Behaviour, which she directed and starred in herself, at the Sundance Film Festival back in January. Kendall is currently filming drama The Ticket with Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens.

Though he’s been shooting JJ Abrams’ Star Wars Episode VII in the UK, Adam Driver is set to return as Hannah’s boyfriend Adam Sackler.

Girls is up for two Emmy Awards for comedy at tonight’s ceremony with Dunham nominated for Best Actress In A Comedy Series and Driver for Best Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series.

Dunham is due to appear in the HBO sports mockumentary 7 Days in Hell. Also starring Andy Samberg and Karen Gillan it will follow the fictional rivalry of two tennis stars battling out a match that lasts seven days.
