Watch Harry Styles fill in as ‘Late Late Show’ host after James Corden’s wife goes into labour

Corden and his wife Julia welcomed their new-born daughter yesterday (December 12)

Harry Styles filled in at the last minute for James Corden last night (December 12) after the wife of The Late Late Show host went into labour – watch Styles’ monologue referencing both the birth and his late call-up to host below.

Julia Corden gave birth to a baby girl yesterday, with Corden revealing that both Julia and the baby “are doing great”. The host also thanked Styles for presenting last night’s edition of The Late Late Show – a gig that Styles apparently had just two-and-a-half hours to prepare for.

Taking to the stage at the beginning of the episode, Styles started his monologue by saying: “No, your eyes do not deceive you – I am not James Corden. I am Harry Styles.

“You may be wondering why I’m hosting tonight – and, yes, you are right: Donald Trump finally got sick of James’ jokes and deported him back to England.

“I am of course kidding… just half an hour ago, James and his wife Jules had a beautiful baby girl,” he said.

“In fact, I was at the hospital just before coming over here, and she looks a lot like James – mainly because James looks like a giant baby,” he joked.

Watch Styles’ full monologue below.

The former One Direction singer’s stint as a guest host followed his recent appearance in the Christmas special of the Corden-hosted Carpool Karaoke.
