Have ‘The OA’ fans discovered who the mysterious shooter is?

You only see a brief glimpse of the man's eyes in the show

A fan of The OA might have worked out the identity of the mysterious shooter from the season one finale.

In the last episode of the Netflix show’s first series, a shooter enters the school cafeteria but, before they can open fire, the boys begin to enact OA’s movements. While the shooter is confused, a member of the cafeteria staff runs up behind him and pulls him to the ground, causing a stray bullet to be fired.

While only a brief glimpse of the shooter’s face is shown, Reddit user lsmarcal_ reckons they have figured out who plays the attacker. Their guess is Blake Holland, who is credited on as assistant to director and writer Zal Batmanglij.

The fan posted a video of half of Holland’s face, which he had shared on Instagram, noting the similarity between them and the shooter’s face. You can watch the video below.

A second season of The OA was confirmed last year. “We always thought of it almost like books, and there could be many different volumes. In some ways, [part one] is a self-contained story,” said star and co-creator Brit Marling at the time. “The science-fiction, metafictional elements are open-ended so there can be a part two in which we can delve into those spaces.”

A teaser trailer was also shared along with the news. However, no release date has been confirmed at present.

The first season premiered in 2016 and also starred Emory Cohen, Riz Ahmed, and Sharon Van Etten. Former Vampire Weekend member Rostam Batmanglij, brother of Zal, also contributed to the show’s soundtrack.
