HBO confirm Adam Driver will remain in ‘Girls’ despite ‘Star Wars’ role

Actor will split time between TV show and movie franchise

HBO have confirmed that Adam Driver will feature in the next season of Girls, despite the fact he has joined the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII.

As reported, Driver is one of a list of newcomers to join the iconic franchise ahead of the 2015 movie. However, a spokesperson for the network told BuzzFeed that Driver “is still a part of [the] show”.

The next season of Girls will see Lena Dunham’s character Hannah Horvath take a class at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop with new additions to the cast played by Desiree Akhavan and Peter Mark Kendall recently announced. Filming is due to start in May, the same time Driver will be shooting Star Wars in London.

The full cast list for Star Wars Episode VII was confirmed yesterday (April 29) by director, JJ Abrams. Driver will be joined in the latest Star Wars film by Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson and Andy Serkis plus original stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill.
