HBO releases ‘Girls’ season five trailer teasing marriage storyline – watch

Lena Dunham's Brooklyn comedy returns to HBO in February

HBO has released the first trailer for season five of Girls.

The trailer teases a marriage storyline for one of the show’s four main characters, and shows another embarking on a new life in Japan. It also includes a brief glimpse of Adam Driver’s character, Adam, confirming that the Star Wars actor will feature in the new run of episodes.

Season five of Girls will feature 10 new episodes premiering on HBO on February 21. In the UK, the new season will start shortly afterwards on Sky Atlantic.

Dunham, the show’s writer and creator as well as its star, has recently explained that this will probably be Girls‘ penultimate season.

“Never say never, but that is the way that we’re thinking about it right now and we’re starting to think about sort of how to wrap up the storylines of these particular young women,” Dunham said in an interview on a US radio show. “I started working on this show when I was 23, and now I’m going to be 30 so it kind of feels right that this show kind of sandwiched my 20s and then I go off into the world!”
