‘Hollyoaks’ and ‘Brookside’ actor Kristian Ealey dies aged 38

Star played Matt Musgrove in the soaps

Kristian Ealey, best known for his roles in Hollyoaks and Brookside, has passed away. He was 38.

Ealey played Matt Musgrove in Brookside from 1998 before portraying the same character in sister soap Hollyoaks from 2000 to 2004.

BBC News reports that the actor was in Italy at the time of his death. No cause of death has yet been confirmed.

Former Hollyoaks star Gemma Atkinson is among those paying tribute to Ealey, calling him “a lovely, lovely man”.

A spokesperson for Lime Pictures, the company behind Hollyoaks, has released a statement, which reads: “Many crew worked with Kristian on both Brookside and Hollyoaks and enjoyed following his musical success after leaving the show. The news has been met with shock and sadness on set and our thoughts are with his family at this time.”

Outside of acting, Ealey was also a musician and a member of the band Tramp Attack, which featured Dave McCabe, who went on to join The Zutons. Ealey also appeared as Ringo Starr in the film In His Life: The John Lennon Story.
