British actor has previously appeared in 'Deadwood' and 'Lovejoy'
Ian McShane, known for TV roles in Deadwood and Lovejoy, has joined the cast of Game Of Thrones.
McShane joins the cast of the HBO show in an unknown role with EW reporting that his character “has a relatively small amount of screen-time during the season [but] is of key importance.”
Season six of the fantasy drama started shooting earlier this month, and will premiere on HBO and Sky Atlantic in spring 2016.
Since starring in Deadwood, McShane has gone on to be seen in films such as Kung Fu Panda, Sexy Beast, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and John Wick. TV viewers most recently saw him on Ray Donovan.
Meanwhile, HBO president Michael Lombardo recently said that Game Of Thrones is likely to run for eight seasons, rather than the seven previously stated by producers of the show.
Lombardo confirmed that show runners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who have previously said they would end the show with season seven, are now leaning towards making an eighth season. “At this point, obviously we’re shooting [season] six now, hopefully discussing [season] seven. I think they’re feeling like there’s probably two more years after six,” Lombardo explained at a recent press conference
