The trailer will be shown on TV for the first time on Saturday night (March 14)
ITV has shared the first full-length trailer for its Thunderbirds reboot online ahead of its TV premiere tomorrow (March 14).
Titled Thunderbirds Are Go!, the reboot features a mixture of computer-generated animation and live-action model sets. The first series of 26 episodes will begin on ITV this spring and a second series of 26 episodes has already been commissioned.
As previously reported, the reboot is aiming to “deliver a whole new level of action-adventure animation for today’s audience, whilst also affectionately paying tribute to the legacy of model locations from the classic series”. Created by the late Gerry Anderson and wife Sylvia, Thunderbirds originally ran for 32 episodes in the mid-’60s and spawned a pair of successful feature films.
Gone Girls‘s Rosamund Pike provides the voice of Lady Penelope in the reboot with Thomas Brodie-Sangster (The Maze Runner) supplying the voices of Tracy brothers Gordon and John. Meanwhile, original cast member David Graham will reprise his voice role as Parker, Lady Penelope’s chauffeur.
ITV’s official synopsis for the series teases: “When disaster strikes and there’s no one else to help, International Rescue answers the call! From their secret island base, this family of highly trained responders can reach every corner of the globe – and beyond – in minutes.
“With their remarkable cutting edge Thunderbird Vehicles, brothers Scott, Virgil, John, Gordon and Alan Tracy along with head of security Kayo and lead engineer Brains pull off amazing feats of heroism. No rescue is too big and no journey too far to save a life. When duty calls, Thunderbirds are GO.”
