Jamil's desire for celebrities to "shit themselves in public" is demonstrated in her new video
Jameela Jamil has continued her campaign against celebrities endorsing potentially health-damaging ‘detox’ products, with a parody video in which she ‘shits herself’ in public
The actress, best known for her role in Netflix’s The Good Place, has been vocal on social media over the last week in her criticism of the likes of Khloe Kardashian, Cardi B and more for endorsing weight loss products that are bad for health and spread damaging messages to young women.
In a criticism of “poisonous rhetoric” that is “always marketed at young girls”, Jamil said: “These ‘weight loss’ products don’t make you thinner. They make you shit. They give you diarrhoea, which then gives you a flatter tummy for a day.”
In a tweet about Cardi B’s endorsement of ‘detox tea’, Jamil said: “GOD I hope all these celebrities all shit their pants in public, the way the poor women who buy this nonsense upon their recommendation do. Not that they actually take this shit. They just flog it because they need MORE MONEY.”
Now, the actor and presenter has given a visual demonstration of that desire with a parody video, “if celebs and influencers were actually honest with us about some of these diet/detox products…”
Responding to the enormous amount of attention the video received, Jamil said: “I know I’m being a bit extra over this whole thing, but the war against women’s bodies/general image is ongoing and out of control. Teen surgery, eating disorders and self-harm are at an ALL TIME HIGH. So it’s going to involve a big noise to fight back. Don’t like it? Mute me”.
