James Corden on Kim Kardashian robbery jokes: ‘Be nice or shut up’

Reality TV star was robbed of millions in Paris hotel

James Corden has hit out at people making jokes about Kim Kardashian after the reality TV star was held at gunpoint at a Paris hotel.

It emerged earlier today that Kardashian was the victim of a robbery in the early hours with two armed masked men dressed as police officers invading her hotel room.

A spokesperson described the star as “badly shaken but physically unharmed.” It was also revealed that Kardashian was robbed of a jewellery box worth up to €6 million and a ring valued at €4 million.

After jokes spread via social media, comedian and US TV host Corden said that people would “do well” to remember that Kardashian is “a mother, a daughter, a wife, a friend”. He added: “Be nice or shut up”. See that tweet below.

Kardashian’s husband Kanye West cut short a concert in New York after learning of the incident.

Rapper West was performing at the Meadows Festival in New York City at the time, departing the stage during a rendition of his song ‘Heartless’, citing to the crowd a “family emergency”.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that a standalone Carpool Karaoke series is coming to Apple Music without Corden as host.

The streaming service has commissioned 16 episodes of the popular segment from The Late Late Show With James Corden. According to reports, the series’ host will be announced shortly, and Corden is not expected to take part.

The new episodes, which will air first exclusively on Apple Music, will be added to the streaming service weekly, with episode one expected to debut “soon”.

Ben Winston, the executive producer of The Late Late Show With James Corden, whose production company will be involved in making the new series, said in a statement: “We couldn’t be more excited to be partnering with Apple Music on this exciting new series of Carpool Karaoke. The joy of Carpool is both the intimacy it creates, while seeing the love our passengers have for music. Where better to showcase that than with Apple Music?”
