James Corden says Kanye West keeps bailing on ‘Carpool Karaoke’ appearance

'Late Late Show' host also keen on a Beyoncé guest slot

James Corden has revealed that Kanye West has been booked to appear on his popular ‘Carpool Karaoke’ segment twice, only for both appearances to fall through.

Corden was speaking in interview with GQ when he stated his eagerness to team up with the rapper.

“Kanye has been booked to do [it] twice now but both times something came up,” Corden said.

“He’ll do it eventually… He wants to do it.”

The late-night TV host also revealed that West sent him three dozen roses “in the shape of a cube” to apologise for cancelling his bookings.

Elsewhere in the interview, Corden named Beyonce as a potential dream guest for ‘Carpool Karaoke’.

“It would break the internet,” he said. “She’s on tour right now. We’re working on it.”

Meanwhile, a standalone Carpool Karaoke series is coming to Apple Music without Corden as host.

The streaming service has commissioned 16 episodes of the popular segment from The Late Late Show With James Corden. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series’ host will be announced shortly, and Corden is not expected to take part.

The new episodes, which will air first exclusively on Apple Music, will be added to the streaming service weekly, with episode one expected to debut “soon”.

Ben Winston, the executive producer of The Late Late Show With James Corden, whose production company will be involved in making the new series, said in a statement: “We couldn’t be more excited to be partnering with Apple Music on this exciting new series of Carpool Karaoke. The joy of Carpool is both the intimacy it creates, while seeing the love our passengers have for music. Where better to showcase that than with Apple Music?”
