Jeffrey Tambor could still return to ‘Transparent’ despite sexual misconduct allegations

New statement denies that actor has quit the show

Transparent star Jeffrey Tambor hasn’t quit the show, despite previous reports.

Actor Tambor faces three allegations of sexual misconduct, which he denies. Last month he appeared to confirm his departure from the Emmy-winning Amazon show, saying in a statement: “Given the politicised atmosphere that seems to have afflicted our set, I don’t see how I an return to Transparent.”

However, Tambor’s publicist has now clarified to The New York Times that “no final decision” has been made about the actor’s future. “What he said was that given the toxic atmosphere and the politicisation on the set, it’s very hard for him to see how he can possibly return,” his publicist said. “But no final decision for next year has been made, either by Jeffrey or by Amazon.”

Production on the show has been suspended and Amazon are currently investigating the claims against Tambor.

The latest allegation against Tambor saw the actor accused of harassing a make-up artist while working on 2001 comedy Never Again. Tamara Delbridge alleged that Tambor “grabbed me out of nowhere and kissed me on the lips”.

Tambor responded to the claims by apologising for any “discomfort or offence” he may have caused, but added that he did not remember the alleged incident.

“I have absolutely no recollection of anything like this incident ever happening,” the actor said in a statement. “If it did, it wasn’t meant as anything more than an enthusiastic farewell and gratitude for a job well done at the end of a shoot. However, I am deeply sorry for any discomfort or offence I may have inadvertently caused her.”
