The Time Lord's assistant will stay a part of the BBC show
Jenna Coleman has confirmed that she will be staying on for another series of Doctor Who.
Speaking to BBC News, the actress, who plays the Time Lord’s sidekick Clara Oswald, put to bed rumours that she would be leaving the show. Viewers had to wait until the end of the Christmas Day special to find out if she would be appearing in the next season of Doctor Who.
Coleman commented: “It’s wonderful. I get a whole other series of stories with the Doctor and I couldn’t walk away with the story being unresolved. There is so much more to do. I think they’ve finally just reached a point where they really understand each other.”
Peter Capaldi, who plays the 12th Doctor, after taking over from Matt Smith, added: “I’m thrilled. Jenna has just been fantastic and such a pleasure to work with.”
Coleman had previously explained that she couldn’t tell fans if she was staying or going, as it would have ruined the end of the Christmas special. She commented: “If you know I’m in the next series – or if you know I’m off – you’ll know how the story ends… it’s much better that nobody knows which way it’s going to go.”
