Jonathan Ross to host new ITV1 movie show

He says it'll be 'bigger' than the BBC film programme he used to present...

Jonathan Ross is to present a new film series on ITV1.

Wossy is a well-known movie buff who fronted the long-running Film review programme from 1999 until 2010, when he left the BBC. His new ITV1 movie series is set to begin next April (2013).

In an interview with Radio Times, Ross promised that his new show will be “bigger” and broader than its BBC rival, which is now presented by Claudia Winkleman with Danny Leigh.

He explained: “The BBC film show is fine, it’s a lovely show but it’s always been what it is – reviews, talking about movies. We’re doing stuff that is a bit bigger; we’re opening it up a bit more. We’ll do these stunts. In the pilot we had Ross Noble with a dialogue coach trying to do a scene from Jaws.”

Ross, 51, is currently hosting the third series of his ITV1 Saturday night chatshow. For nearly a decade, he presented a similar series on Friday nights on BBC One.

In recent years, his wife Jane Goldman has established herself as an in-demand movie screenwriter. Her impressive CV includes credits on X-Men: First Class, Kick-Ass and The Woman In Black.
