The 'Dark Knight Rises' actor is set to play geeky florist Seymour
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is working on a remake on Little Shop Of Horrors.
The actor is working with producer Marc Platt to develop a new version of the cult musical comedy, concerning a human-eating plant, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Platt has produced a number of Broadway hits including Wicked and Legally Blonde, and Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is on board to write the screenplay.
Little Shop Of Horrors began life as a low-budget farce in 1960, before being remade as an off-Broadway musical. The best-known version of is the 1986 movie starring Rick Moranis and Steve Martin. The rock’n’roll-style musical is famous for numbers ‘Skid Row (Downtown)’, ‘Somewhere That’s Green’ and ‘Suddenly, Seymour’.
Gordon-Levitt would play the leading role of geeky florist Seymour, who finds success with the flesh-eating plant, but is cursed with having to feed humans to be it maintain his success. The actor can next be seen as Gotham City police officer John Blake in The Dark Knight Rises.
