Ten new episodes of the cult US comedy are coming to Netflix in May
Kristen Wiig and Seth Rogen are to make guest appearances on the new season of Arrested Development, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Wiig is believed to be appearing as a younger version of family matriarch Lucille Bluth – the character usually played by Jessica Walter – but Rogen’s role has yet to be revealed.
The cult US comedy has been revived by Netflix, which will launch ten new episodes at the same time in May. Original cast members Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett and Michael Cera have all reprised their roles. Meanwhile, other confirmed guest stars include Conan O’Brien, Isla Fisher and Mad Men‘s John Slattery, who is expected to appear in several episodes.
Last month (January), the show’s creator Mitch Hurwitz revealed that he wants to follow the new season with a full-length Arrested Development feature film. He said at the time: “This is the first act of what we would like to complete in a movie. These are episodes that set that up. One does not work without the other.”
Arrested Development was originally broadcast on US network Fox between 2003 and 2006. Despite being a critics’ favourite and winning six Emmy awards, the show was dropped after three seasons because of low ratings.
