‘League Of Gentlemen’ fans react to show’s return

The first of a three-part special aired tonight (December 18)

Fans have been reacting to the first episode of the League Of Gentlemen revival, with the response so far being overwhelmingly positive.

The League Of Gentlemen, which follows the lives of residents in the bizarre village of Royston Vasey, originally aired on BBC 2 between 1999 and 2002, before a full-length film was released in 2005.

It has now returned for a three-part special over the Christmas period. The first episode aired this evening (December 18), with the other two parts following on Tuesday (December 19) and Wednesday (December 20).

Meanwhile, The League Of Gentlemen cast have also announced details of a UK tour for 2018.

“The League of Gentlemen started as a live show over 20 years ago and in many ways performing in front of an audience gives us the biggest thrill of all,” a statement read. “We’re overjoyed to be taking the citizens of Royston Vasey on a road-trip and can’t wait to see all the wonderful local places in our increasingly local country.”

They added: “Plus we’d already gone to the trouble of getting the costumes and learning the voices again for the TV show so we thought why not? Something to do isn’t it?”
