The 1960s-set advertising executives drama will come to an end in the 2010s
Mad Men, which is currently in production on its fifth season, will finish after its seventh series. Show creator Matthew Weiner has now let it slip that the drama will end in present day, with leading man Don Draper (Jon Hamm) in his 80s, reports BBC News.
Weiner added that the final plot however has not yet been decided: “Do I know everything that’s gonna happen? No, I don’t… But I just want it to be entertaining, and I want people to remember it fondly and not think it ended in a fart.”
Series five will be aired in the US in March 2012. The first episode has been directed by star Jon Hamm.
Earlier this year Hamm said he though that it was right for show to end after its seventh series. He said: “I think it should end. Everything should end. I was a big fan of [the original UK version of] The Office because it ended.”
