SPOILER WARNING: Do not read this article if you haven't seen the latest episode
The actress who plays Arya Stark has, it’s safe to say, enjoyed the stunned reactions from the audience after Monday’s breathtaking episode of Game of Thrones.
After months of claims, counterclaims and swirling rumours, one of the best-kept secrets in TV was finally let out of the bag this week, when one of the lead characters, Jon Snow, was resurrected, despite the entire cast and crew swearing blind that he was gone for good.
And Maisie Williams, who plays Snow actor Kit Harington’s half-sister on the show, has clearly had a laugh at everyone’s expense with a two-word tweet:
Snow was bought back to life by the red priestess Melisandre in the last shot of the episode, as many fans predicted. Book readers and show watchers alike have been on tenterhooks about his status for months or even years, as Thrones author George RR Martin hasn’t written as far as his resurrection.
“I’d like to say sorry for lying to everyone,” Harington told Entertainment Weekly. “I’m glad that people were upset that he died. I think my biggest fear was that people were not going to care. Or it would just be, “Fine, Jon Snow’s dead.’
“But it seems like people had a similar to the Red Wedding episode, kind of grief about it. Which means something I’m doing — or the show is doing for Jon — is right.”
