Netflix has released the first trailer for the second series of Marvel’s Daredevil.
Charlie Cox is set to reprise his role of Matt Murdock, while co-stars Rosario Dawson, Deborah Ann Woll and Eddie Henson are also set to return.
The new clip also shows that Jon Bernthal‘s character The Punisher is set to be a major focus of the new series as Murdock’s primary antagonist.
Frank Castle aka The Punisher is a popular antihero who made his Marvel Comics debut in 1974 and has previously been played on screen by actors including Dolph Lundgren, Thomas Jane and Ray Stevenson.
Marvel describes the character as “a vigilante who aims to clean up New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results”.
Season One of Marvel’s Daredevil, which is now streaming on Netflix, was about Murdock’s decision to become a hero and take on the role of Daredevil, while season two revolves around the question, when does right become wrong?
The show continues to explore the philosophical conflict at the core of Matt’s double lives, now complicated by a vigilante rival, Frank Castle, who takes things too far.
Marvel’s Daredevil first launched on Netflix in April 2015 and quickly became one of the streaming service’s most popular shows.
The second series of Marvel’s Daredevil premieres globally on Friday, March 18, 2016.
