Matt LeBlanc reportedly set to host ‘Top Gear’ by himself

Chris Evans left the show earlier this week

Matt LeBlanc is reportedly set to host Top Gear by himself following Chris Evans departure from the show earlier this week.

Evans quit the show on Monday (July 4) after admitting that his “best shot” at presenting the show wasn’t enough.

Overnight viewing figures had revealed that the show attracted a record low of 1.9 million viewers to BBC2 for the final episode last night (July 3). It was up against the France v Iceland Euro 2016 game on ITV and Antiques Roadshow on BBC1.

According to Variety, LeBlanc will return for the show’s 24th series, alongside contributors Chris Harris, Eddie Jordan, Rory Reid and Sabine Schmitz.

No presenter is expected to be announced to replace Evans, however.

In June, it was reported that LeBlanc had threatened to leave the show unless Evans was sacked. His spokespeople denied the story was true.
